IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita Bell
Mclain
June 22, 1929 – March 1, 2022
Juanita Bell (Miller) McLain, fondly known as "Babe", was born June 22, 1929 in Camargo, OK. She was one of nine children born to her parents, Leota Myrle (Dover) Miller and Maurice Denton Miller. At the age of 92 years, 8 months and 9 days Juanita completed her earthly journey in Oklahoma City, OK. on March 1, 2022.
The Riverview community near Camargo was home for the Miller family and Juanita grew up on the family farm and attended the Riverview School. Her school days were completed in the Camargo Public School system where she was a member of the graduating class of 1947. Following graduation she moved to Woodward, OK. where she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and as a 'soda jerk' at Little's Drug Store. She returned to the farm to visit her family as often as possible by riding the KATY train from Woodward to Camargo.
While working in Woodward she met a young police officer on the Woodward Police force named William 'Bill' McLain. Bill and Juanita were united in marriage August 3, 1951 in Woodward, OK. and established their first home there. Following Bill's enlistment in the U.S. Army they lived in Ft. Sill, OK., Ft. Richardson, AK., Ft. Chaffee, AR. and Tyler, TX. Their home was blessed with five children, Patrick 'Pat' in 1952, Daniel in 1953, Cindy in 1955, Susan in 1957 and Carol in 1962. While Bill was stationed in Germany, Juanita and the children moved home to Camargo and Bill joined them following his honorable discharge from the service. They lived for a time in Camargo before moving to Guthrie, OK. and then to Grapevine, TX. Juanita was devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook, baker, a homemaker and a stay at home Mom while her kids were growing up. She also enjoyed reading, especially biographies and cookbooks. After her children were grown, Juanita worked in the nursing home kitchen in Grapevine, TX. and also in the kitchen at the Grapevine Public Schools system.
In 1993 Bill and Juanita retired and returned to live in Vici, OK. They shared a love for gardening and maintained a large vegetable garden, always sharing the fruits of their labor with family and friends. They enjoyed twelve years of retirement before Bill's passing in 2005.
Juanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister whose bright smile and caring ways will be missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leota and Maurice Miller, her beloved husband, William 'Bill' McLain, five of her siblings, Ival Lee Miller, Eddie Miller, Donald Miller, Helen Margheret and Doris Bridges. A son in law, Terry Fiene and other loved ones.
Memories of happy times together will be cherished by her children, Patrick 'Pat' McLain of Vici, OK., Daniel McLain and wife Kim of Euless, TX., Cindy Wallace and husband Gary of Sharon, OK., Susan Fiene of Mutual, OK. and Carol Lum of Tacoma WA., seven grandchildren and eight great grands.
