Obituary

Judith Ann (Cleveland) Betancourt was born December 2, 1943 in Camargo, OK. She was one of four girls born to Orville C. and Myrtle Florance (Day) Cleveland. She passed from this life on June 21, 2010 at the age of 66.

Judy's childhood years were spent growing up in the Camargo and Vici area. She attended grade school at Camargo and high school at Vici, graduating with the Class of 1962. Judy went on to attend Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, for several semesters before enrolling in Draughn's School of Business in Tulsa, OK.

On December 14, 1968 Judy was united in marriage to Mr. Roland Betancourt. The ceremonies took place in Arlington, VA. Judy and Roland were blessed with the birth of their four children; Tonya, Vincent, Marie, and Katrina. Stepchildren, Lisa and Vaughan brought the family total to eight. They made their home on the East coast for many years, living in Arlington and Alexandria, VA and Brandywine, MD before moving to Greenbrier, AR in 2007

Judy was a loving and attentive mother and devoted wife. In addition to her duties at home she was also employed outside the home. She worked for a time for the U.S. Government at Marine Headquarters in the Navel Annex while in Virginia. She was a Manager/Trainer for Tupperware Corporation for a number of years and also operated a child day care in her home for several years. While living in Maryland Judy was employed as a receptionist for Long & Foster Real Estate Company in Waldorf. She made life-long friends while working there and they have continued to keep in touch throughout the years.

Judy had a variety of hobbies she enjoyed; sewing, cooking and reading a good book. She most recently took up learning to navigate around the Internet. However, primarily Judy dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She liked to stay connected to extended family and friends via the telephone.

Judy was baptized into the church at a young age. She attended the First Christian Church at both Camargo and Vici in her youth. At the time of her marriage to Roland she converted to the Catholic faith.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Myrtle Cleveland; sister, Betty Andrews and husband James; brother-in-law, Tommy Ramsey; and nephew, Mark Ramsey.

Family remaining to cherish her memory are children, Tonya Shomette of Ashburn, VA, Vincent Betancourt and wife Angie, Marie Betancourt and Billie Stivers, and Katrina Betancourt all of Greenbrier, AR; step-children, Lisa Kennedy and Vaughan Betancourt both of Virginia; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, June Miller and husband Joe of Elk City, OK and Anita Peck and husband Vernon of Vici, OK; 4 nieces, 7 nephews, other family and a lifetime of friends.
