IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Kaye
Koop
July 14, 1948 – June 4, 2023
Julia Kaye (Turner) Koop passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2023, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 21 days, surrounded by her family.
Julia was born to Paul and Dorothy (Turner) Burr and adopted and raised by her grandparents, Preston and Beulah (Schandorf) Turner, who became Daddy and Momma to Julia Kaye and Marilyn, along with their other three daughters, Dorothy, Mary Ellen, and Linda Faye.
Julia was raised most of her life in Camargo. She started school in Arnett with one year of first grade, then attended school in Camargo until her senior year when the town lost their high school. She then attended one semester in Vici and her last semester of her senior year in Arnett, graduating with the Class of 1966.
While growing up, Julia attended the Camargo Methodist Church with her family and was baptized at an early age. After having a family of her own, she became a member and was baptized in the Arnett Methodist Church.
After graduating high school, Julia moved to Beaver for a short time where her daughter, Rhonda Lynn, was born. She then moved back to Camargo so she could attend Beauty College in Woodward and, at a later date, she went back to Beauty College to become a licensed instructor.
Julia met and married Wendell Weaver in Woodward, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born, Wendell Eugene and Mary Ellen. Julia moved and raised her children in Arnett where she later met and married Bill Koop and added his son, John, to her family.
After moving to Arnett, she went to work for Lois Hart in the Arnett Beauty Salon and for the Ellis County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher. She later opened, owned, and operated her own beauty salon on the square while continuing her career with the Sheriff's Office as dispatcher and jail administrator for the next 30-plus years. After retiring from those positions, she became the secretary for Ellis County District #3 for another 15-plus years. During her career with Ellis County, she was awarded many safety awards for no accidents. Julia had many other jobs and hobbies in her lifetime. Without a doubt, Julia was a dedicated servant of any job she held.
When time allowed, she enjoyed taking her children and many others on numerous adventures. Whether it be camping or traveling back roads to Camargo, she always made a fun time out of the trip. Julia loved her family; her children and grandchildren brought her so much happiness, and her great-grandchildren brought true joy to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Beulah; her birth parents, Dorothy (Turner) and Paul Burr; her daughter, Rhonda (Turner) Ellis; granddaughter, Kristian Ellis; sisters, Mary Ellen (Turner) Searcy, Linda Faye (Turner) Waldon and husband Holly; brother, Robert Heinsohn; brother-in-law, Gene Booth, nephew Dale Searcy, step-nephew Brad Booth, niece Kathrine (Waldon) Frost; and brothers, Allen and Carl Burr.
She is survived by her son, Wendell Weaver and wife Jill of Shattuck; daughter, Mary Weaver of Arnett; granddaughters, Nicole Turner of Oklahoma City, Kelsey Idom and husband Steven of Mustang, Allison Wayland and husband Jacob of Arnett; and grandson, Michael Ellis and wife Sarah of Snyder, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Brody, Bowen, and Isla Idom, Emmagrace and Noah Ellis, and Caroline Wayland; two sisters, Marilyn (Turner) McAlary and husband Rex of Elk City and Lovella (Heinsohn) Booth of Higgins, Texas; brother, Charles Burr of Hydro; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
