IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Kay
Huenergardt
May 12, 1941 – January 30, 2025
Karen Kay Huenergardt, 83, of Shattuck, Oklahoma, entered into the arms of Jesus on January 30th, 2025. Born May 12, 1941, in Selman, Oklahoma, to Walter and Helen Inderlied, Karen lived a life dedicated to family and her faith.
Karen attended Buffalo Public Schools throughout her education, graduating in May of 1959. That same year, on November 17th, she married the love of her life, Labon Oliver Huenergardt, at the Buffalo Lutheran Church, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 65 years.
Together, Karen and LO built a life filled with love and family, raising three children: Darla Denise, Gregory Scott, and Steven Brett. While they lived in several places throughout their marriage, they spent the majority of their years in Enid, Oklahoma. There, Karen graduated from Enid Cosmetology School and went on to become an instructor, sharing her knowledge and passion with others. After a brief time in Missouri, they returned to Enid where Karen worked at the Bank of the West until her retirement in 2009. Following retirement, Karen and LO moved to Shattuck to be closer to family.
Karen was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in creating beautiful pieces through sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, delighting in teaching these skills to her grandchildren. She had a surprising passion for video games, spending countless hours mastering Super Mario and Zelda on the Nintendo. Her love for cooking was legendary among family members, and she continuously explored new recipes to share with loved ones.
Above all, Karen was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a patient and wonderful mother, and took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Shattuck, her faith remained a cornerstone of her life.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Inderlied; brother Doug Inderlied; mother and father-in-law Ted and Dorothy Huenergardt; brother-in-law Merton Miller; brother and sister-in-law Edgar and Verna Jean Snow; brothers-in-law Pat O'Neill and Louis Huenergardt; nieces Debra Snow, Leasha DeCamp, and Heidi Inderlied; and nephew Mark Inderlied.
She is survived by her beloved husband, LO Huenergardt; daughter Darla Huenergardt-Ehrlich and husband Nathan of Woodward, OK; son Greg Huenergardt and wife Gina of Shattuck, OK; and son Steven Huenergardt. Sister, Sharon O'Neill of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Theda Miller. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Luke Davis and wife Megan, Sarah Davis, McKayla Trout and husband Tyson, Teagan Charmasson, Tate Charmasson, and McKinlee Kay Huenergardt; and great-grandchildren: Landon Oliver Davis, Brady and Tate Snyder, Cooper Davis, and Haidyn Trout. And many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Karen's warm presence, loving nature, and dedication to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
