Obituary

Kathleen Edra (Katy) Wolfington, age 89, of Gage Oklahoma passed away August 26, 2012 at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck Oklahoma.
Katy was born at the family home on January 17, 1923 in Gage Oklahoma to O. J. and Mabel Baxter. She was also welcomed by 2 sisters, Mary and Luella and a brother Sam. She grew up in Gage and graduated from Gage High School with the Class of 1940.
Whilst working at a café in Shattuck Oklahoma in the summer of 1941, she was introduced by a mutual friend to her husband to be, Elmer Wolfington a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad. Following a short romance they were married on August 16, 1941 and it was a marriage that would last for over 58 years until Elmers' death in October 1999. To this marriage two sons were born, David Ray on February 7, 1953 and Gary Gene on July 3, 1956.
Katy gave her heart to the Lord at a very early age and felt the call to the Ministry. She was licensed on March 1, 1952 and ordained April 25, 1963 by the Assembly of God. Elmer was later ordained and joined her in the Ministry. Together they pastored churches in Higgins Texas, Elm Grove Assembly of God, a country church just Northwest of Chester Oklahoma and the Assembly of God church in Gage. During her years as a Minister, Katy also filled in for many area Assembly of God Pastors as needed. Katy retired from the Ministry after more than 50 years of service to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Katy was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, parents O. J. and Mabel (Williams) Baxter, a brother Sam Baxter, 2 sisters Mary Jacoby and Luella Shafer Stahlman, brothers-in-law Otis Jacoby Sr., Loris Shafer and Howard Stahlman, father-in-law Ray Wolfington and mothers-in-law Clara Wolfington and Lizzie Wolfington, 2 nephews Ken Jacoby and Sam Jacoby.
She is survived by sons David of Oklahoma City, Gary and his wife Sarah of Gage, grandchildren Megan Wolfington of Woodward, Chad and Eric Wolfington of Tulsa, Erin West and her husband Josh of Austin Texas, 2 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, 4 nephews and 5 nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.
