Kathryn Delia Hendrix Vance was born August 21, 1924 in Webb, Oklahoma to Murrell William and Verna Belle (Hemstreet) Hendrix. She went to be with her Lord on October 10, 2011. She was 87 at the time of her passing.
Kathryn was raised in the Riverview Community, south of Camargo, Oklahoma. After completing her elementary and high school education she went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1960. In 1974 Kathryn earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from Tulsa University. After earning her Masters she moved to Burundi, Africa for a time where she taught elementary education. She then moved back to Oklahoma where she continued her teaching career.
In 1976 Kathryn was united in marriage to Schauner Vance in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They spent their years together serving as Pastors in Texas, New Mexico, and Ozark, Arkansas.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Marvin Murrell and Sydney. She is survived by her special son, Rick Brown; sister-in-law, Joyce Dean (Weaver) Hendrix; nieces, Sue Shelley and husband Stephen of Owasso, Oklahoma Jeanette North and husband Ron of Owasso, Oklahoma, Linda Hendrix-Haley of St. Louis, Missouri; stepchildren, Virginia Bowen, Lloyd Vance, Rebecca Bledsoe and Esther Fuller, and many friends.
