IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Krista Sue
Boren
April 5, 1956 – December 29, 2025
Krista Sue (Bell) Boren was born on April 5, 1956, to her parents Vern Adelbert Bell and Marjorie Ilene (Caldwell) Bell in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood and adolescent years in and around Waynoka and on the farm where she grew up as an only child. It was on this farm where Krista learned to love nature, tend to farm animals and a variety of pets, play with her beloved dolls, and the peacefulness of walking to the meadows, swinging from trees, and playing in her dollhouse. She completed all her grade school and high school years within the Waynoka Public School system graduating as Valedictorian of her class in 1974. She went on to further her education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and double minors in English and Business Management.
After graduation from college, Krista ended up moving to Andover, Kansas, where she took her first full-time job doing payroll for Ameron. She took this position based on guidance from her beloved Aunt Opal, and it was here that she bought her first trailer home and a fancy black Trans-Am. It was over the long 4th of July holiday weekend in 1978 when Krista would attend a dance that "changed her life". Upon the encouragement of friends, she attended a dance at the VFW in Woodward, OK, where she ultimately met the love of her life, Dale Allen Boren. This was a "love at first sight" moment for them, and they were married shortly thereafter on September 16, 1978. Krista always desired to have two sons, and those dreams came to reality over the subsequent few years. Dale Allen Boren Jr. was born on October 4, 1979, and Travis Brett Boren was born on May 21, 1981. Her sons were the highlight of her life, and she took tremendous pride in raising them to be compassionate and loving young men.
Dale and Krista ultimately settled down in Camargo, OK, where Dale worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Krista was an accountant for Craighead and Dersch of Woodward, OK. It was during this time that she completed the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training curriculum. Krista was also the secretary for the superintendent of Leedey Public Schools in the 1990s. Krista was always an avid collector, ranging from Boyd's Bears, dolls, art and crafting supplies, and scrapbooking items. Krista was an avid scrapbooker and genealogist, spending countless hours rummaging through photos and family historical documents to create timeless keepsakes and a picture history for those she would someday leave behind. At one point, she created a small business she named "Ladybugs and Butterflies," where she shared her love of small trinkets, art/craft and scrapbooking supplies, and other items she had fun collecting.
Dale and Krista enjoyed traveling, often taking trips to the Colorado mountains. Cuchara, CO was one of their favorite destinations. At one point in time, they owned a cabin in Cuchara, and Krista spent a couple of years there mostly solo, serving as a waitress at a fancy restaurant (The Timbers) and enjoying the fresh mountain air. Krista always enjoyed taking trips with Mona Boren and other Green family members to the annual Carrot Carnival in Holtville, CA. Later in life, they often enjoyed taking short trips to the Eagle's Nest, NM, area where they would camp, fish, and enjoy a cold beer and dancing at a local saloon. Locally, they enjoyed going to Foss Lake and the surrounding areas to watch their favorite local band, Dean Jackson Band. Dancing was always a passion for Krista, teaching her sons at a young age how to two-step, line-dancing for years with family and friends at the Camargo Community Building, and being an avid fan of the Dancing with the Stars television series.
Krista was raised in the church, spending her childhood within the Waynoka Church of Christ. It was here she learned to pray, sing and enjoy songs which required bodily movements such as "Jesus Loves Me," attended vacation bible schools, and where she was ultimately baptized and saved at 12 years of age. She would later join the Catholic Church alongside Dale and his family in 1980. She enjoyed teaching catechism and religious education classes to children over the years. Fittingly, her name Krista means "follower of Christ" or "anointed one".
She greatly enjoyed becoming a grandparent to five grandchildren, Aidyn Allen, Randy Hudsyn, Holdyn Brett, Adlee Marie, and Audree Diane. She enjoyed attending their events, ranging from sporting events, stock shows, church events, and musicals and plays. Her favorite and most treasured title was "Mimi," and she always wanted her grandchildren to know that they were deeply loved, supported, and cherished.
Krista was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Susie and Mitch Caldwell; paternal grandparents, Blanche and Jess Bell; parents, Vern Bell and Marjorie Bell; and her treasured pet poodles, Kasey and Korey. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dale Allen Boren; son Dale Allen and wife Christa of Leedey, OK; son Travis Brett and wife Jennifer of Leedey, OK; grandchildren – Aidyn Allen, Randy Hudsyn, Holdyn Brett, Adlee Marie, and Audree Diane; and a host of family, friends, and acquaintances.
Krista found most comfort in her favorite scripture: Ecclesiastes: 3:1-8.
