Leo Roy "L.R." Holley, of Shattuck passed from this life on May 3, 2015 at the age of 78 years and 13 days. L.R. was born on April 20, 1938 in Webb, OK to John Franklin and Mattie Inez (Boggs) Holley. He grew up and was educated in the Webb and Camargo communities, graduating Camargo High School with the Class of 1956. He then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University earning his bachelor's degree in 1960. That same year, he married the love of his life Wanda (Gamble) Holley on November 24, 1960 at the Red Star Church in Leedey, OK. To this union of 55 years, three children, Randy, Kim and Kenna were born.

The couple made their home in Gage, OK and then moved to Shattuck in 1968 where L.R. worked as the High School Basketball Coach. L.R. was proud of the fact that he had attended the State Basketball Championship every year for over 50 years, always sitting in the same seat. In his own coaching career, L.R. he led a storied career with 506 wins (a 72% winning percentage), 15 District Championships, 22 Conference Championships, two State Tournament appearances, held a 54 game conference winning streak, won the Tournament of Champions, and coached seven All-State players. L.R. was inducted into The Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame in June of 1993. He was a member of the Main Street Program, Shattuck Chamber of Commerce, and the Oklahoma Coach's Association, but always went further to better his community. In his career he helped obtain over 1.4 million dollars in grants for the town of Shattuck, built the Veteran's Memorial, built and designed the Shattuck softball field, remodeled both the baseball and football fields, built the Shattuck RV Park, and built the W.E. Bradley Memorial Park. L.R. was a devout member of the First Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, Treasurer, and was instrumental in designing and building the fellowship hall. When he managed to get spare time, L.R. enjoyed playing sports (especially golf), fishing, quail hunting, woodworking and crafting, gardening, and traveling in his RV. However his greatest delight was always found in spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.

In addition to his parents, L.R. was preceded in death by seven siblings, John Holley, Charles Holley, Gay Nealy, Eldo Holley, Mae Ruth Abbot, Billy Joe Holley, and Gordon Holley, brothers-in-law Roy Robinson and David Nealy.

Left to carry his legacy are his wife Wanda of the home; daughters Kim Keith and husband Dr. Robert of Elk City and Kenna Young of Shattuck; son Randy Holley and wife Sonja of Shattuck; four siblings Ray Holley and wife Loreta of Bethel, Meredith Ramey and husband Larry of Camargo, Harold Holley and wife Lois of Camargo, and Ginger Boren and husband Don of Woodward; two sisters-in-law Carolyn Holley of Woodward and Beverly Holley of Oklahoma City; eleven grandchildren, Blake Holley and wife Holly, Brooke Dewald and husband Trey, Chase Holley, Kylee Chapman and husband Wacey, Kaleb Keith, Scott Keith, Megan Soda and husband Matt, Amanda Keith, Kahle Young, Kade Young, and McKenzie Young; six great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, students, and friends, along with special friends Norman and Ronita Henson.
