Funeral services for Lawrence Alpha Nelson, 93, of Oklahoma City were held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the Full Gospel Church of Chickasha, Oklahoma with graveside services held in Dunlap Cemetery, Mutual, Oklahoma under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home.

Lawrence Alpha Nelson was born October 10, 1913 in Mutual, Oklahoma the son of Alpha and Catherine (Mills) Nelson and died Monday, September, 17, 2007 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mr. Nelson lived in Oklahoma all of his life. He was a farmer and enjoyed playing football, basketball, and golf. He was also a musician. He was preceded in death by first wife, Pauline Nelson and second wife, Dorothy Nelson, and by daughter, Virginia Lee Nelson Brown. Survivors include sons, Doug Nelson and wife Peggy of Taloga, Oklahoma and Joe Bob Nelson and wife Nicona of Chickasha, Oklahoma; by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and one on the way, by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
