Legus Gene Pickering, born May 3, 1958, in Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by the legacy of a life devoted to family, faith, and hard work.
He was the son of Arthur C. Pickering and Laverne Maxine Pickering (Keyes), both of whom preceded him in death. Legus was also preceded by his brother, Ronald Pickering, his sister, Edith Choate, his son Michael Pickering, and his daughter, Nikki Pickering.
Legus spent 21 years living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he attended trade school and developed his skills in paint and body work. He built a respected career as a commercial aviation painter, known for his dedication and craftsmanship.
In 1979, Legus married the love of his life, Nancy Pickering (Kaskaske), in Oklahoma City. Together, they built a large and loving family, raising five children: Nikki Pickering, Michael Pickering, Rhonda Kaskaske, Jimmy Salazar, and Jimitra Salazar.
Legus found joy in the outdoors and loved his time spent hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Methodist church, carrying his beliefs with quiet strength throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Pickering; his siblings Joe V. Haynes, Barbara Haynes, Dewight Pickering, Gayle Leighton, and Susie Abrams; as well as his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Legus leaves behind a remarkable legacy, including 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 13 nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
