Lena Habekott Farris passed from this life August 28, 2014. Lena was adored by her family and will be missed tremendously. She was one of fourteen children born to Waltermer and May Thompson of Pauls Valley on July 1,1918. She completed eigth grade and was married at the age of fourteen to William Nicholas Habekott in 1932. After several moves, Bill and Lena eventually settled when they bought land near the Ioland community. They started farming and later added a dairy. Together they raised seven children. At one time they were all living in the barn while Bill built their new home. Six of the children were girls and Lena would make them all clothes that matched. She was an excellent homemaker and quilter. Lena also loved to garden and fish. After Lena got her family raised she started driving to Woodward on Wednesdays to bowl. She loved the state bowling tournaments because she got to bowl with her daughters and granddaughters. She bowled until she was eighty-seven and hated to give it up. Lena enjoyed playing cards and it was common to find her at the table playing with her family and friends. Lena also enjoyed dancing and singing. She taught herself to play the piano by ear and would lead the family in hymns or Christmas songs. Later in life she liked to attend the senior citizens dances. Lena was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and rarely missed watching a game; Chipper Jones was her favorite player. Lena was a faithful christian and a life-long supporter of the Baptist Church and missed the fellowship of her church family when her health and hearing started failing. At home, if Billy Graham was preaching, she was watching.
When Bill passed away in 1976, Lena left the farm and moved into Arnett. In 1980 she married Fred Farris. Fred died in 1994 and Lena eventually moved to Woodward to be closer to her dear friend and dance partner Willard Guthrie. Willard died in 2012 and Lena's health began to fail.

Lena was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Habekott and Fred Farris and friend Willard Guthrie, one daughter, Wanda (Tiny) Nuttall, six sons-in-law Johnny Patterson, Ed Woods, Francis Nuttall, Bruce Fanning, Delbert Barker and Jack Boyer, two grandchildren Lanita (Sissy) Whitson and Shelly Barker, and all of her siblings and her parents.
Lena was very proud of her family and they loved her dearly. She is survived by five daughters Laveta Whitson of Cheyenne, OK, Billie Boyer of Mt. View, OK, Betty Whitson and husband Loyd of Burns Flat , OK, Tawanda Rhodes and husband Ron of Carnegie, OK, and Shirley Barker of Pampa, TX; son Roger Habekott and wife Phyllis of Seiling, OK; fifteen grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Arnett Fire Department, P.O. Box 344, Arnett, Ok 73832 or any charity of your choice.
