Obituary

Funeral service will be Friday February 13, 2015 at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church, Camargo, Oklahoma with burial following in Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, Oklahoma.

Leola Jean Ralston, 88 ten days shy of 89 years, of Camargo, OK, passed into the arms of her Lord on February 10, 2015. Leola was born on February 20, 1926 at Camp Creek (Dewey County), OK to Stanislaus "Stanley" and Mary (Bydalek) Schafer. She grew up and was educated in the Camp Creek schools.
Leola married Murvin Tharp on May 29, 1942 in Taloga. Murvin was then drafted into WWII where he was killed in action on January 22, 1945. Leola and Murvin had 1 daughter, Linda Kay Tharp, who was born 9 weeks after his death. Leola then married Marvin Ralston on August 14, 1946, and they would spend a wonderful 41 years together. Together they had one son, Jerry "Wade" Ralston. The couple made their home in Woodward, until the tornado of 1947; afterwards they lived in Camargo, Haysville, and finally back to Camargo.
Leola worked as a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking. She took great pride in helping her nation as a volunteer during the war effort, helping her family as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and helping her community as a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Camargo Christian Church, the Home Demonstration Club, and the South Canadian Community Center. Leola and Marvin were long time members of the First Christian Church of Camargo, and were involved in all of the functions, including building the new addition.
In addition to her parents, Leola was preceded in death by two husbands, Murvin Tharp and Marvin Ralston, daughter, Linda Kay Ryel, three sisters, Mina Swantkoski, Alvena Barney, and Clara Harwell, and two brothers, Albert Schafer and Sylvester "Saul" Schafer.
Leola leaves behind a son, Wade Ralston and wife Bobbie Gale of Woodward, OK; son-in-law, Mike Ryel of Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Tammy Maddux and husband Mark of Nowata, OK, Robbie Glandon and wife Cindy of Woodward, OK, Curtis Ralston and wife Brent of Ft. Smith, AR, Chris Ralston and wife Susannah of Broken Arrow, OK; great-grandchildren, Glenn and Will Maddux, Kaylee and Maddie Glandon, Lauragale and Noah Ralston, and Abbigale and Hope Ralston; nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
