Obituary

Lester Paul Lackey, a devoted husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 42. Born on October 7, 1982, in Elk City, Oklahoma, Lester grew up in Hammon, Oklahoma, where he graduated in 2001. From a young age, he embraced the hardworking values of rural life, working in the oil fields and assisting with ranch duties, where he became known for his dedication and willingness to help others.

In 2019, he married Megan Rumbaugh Parker, and together they have two children: Parker Royce, born in 2021, and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Grace, born in 2023. The family attended Grandview Church in Elk City.

In 2019, Lester joined Riverfront Ranch under the guidance of Deryl Parker. Lester had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, trapping, and roping. His sense of humor and infectious laughter brought light to every room he entered.

Lester was known for his protective nature, always putting the safety and well-being of his loved ones first. Whether it was ensuring his family's security or offering a helping hand to those in need, his protective instincts were a testament to his deep care and commitment.

He is survived by his wife, Megan; children, Parker and Lizzy; parents, Lynn McDaniel and her husband Larry, and father Bill Lackey; sisters, Krys Ward and Lindsay Messerli and Marsha and Don Mulkey; mother-in-law, Sherol Rumbaugh; sister-in-law, Morgan Todd, her husband Andrew, and nephew Daniel Todd; grandpa Buford "Johnny" Rooks; nieces Danielle Ward and Jordyne Ward; nephews Mike Ward and Joshua Ward; and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by father-in-law Jerry Rumbaugh and grandparents Lester Royce Jones, Carmen M. "Mimi" Jones Rooks, and Paul and Greta Lackey.

Lester's legacy is one of hard work, humor, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to support the Lackey's children. This fund will help ensure that Parker and Elizabeth have the opportunity to pursue higher education or build upon their legacy of hard work and community that Lester cherished.  First National Bank of Elk City – in the name of Megan Lackey.
