Lola Mae Carter, daughter of Harry James and Mabel Agnus (Bell) Butler was born in Taloga, OK on October 14, 1927 and passed from this life in Amarillo, TX on January 6, 2013 at the age of 85. Lola was raised in Taloga attending Taloga Public Schools. She graduated from Taloga High School then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK and Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK.
In August of 1948 Lola married Edward Lee at Oklahoma City, OK. The couple made their home in Norman. Three children were born to this union: Robert, Richard and Rebecca. In 1960 Lola married Vernon Carter and was blessed with another daughter, Ramona. The family moved many times following Vernon's work on major highways throughout Oklahoma and Missouri. Later when Lola returned to Taloga she worked at Dewey County State Bank where she retired.
Lola was a member of the Royal Neighbors and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed dancing and time with her family and friends. Lola was baptized in July of 1948. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Taloga.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mabel Butler, twin sister, Ola Jones, sisters Bonnie Bell Buchanan, Margaret Krattli and Adeline Laubach, and one grandson Kasey Porter. She is survived by brother Bill Butler of Glendale, CA; sister Mareen Hallmark of Elk City, OK; by sons Robert E. Lee and wife Diana of Amarillo, TX, Richard Lee and wife Brenda of Taloga, OK; daughters, Rebecca Beers of Stillwater, OK and Ramona Porter of Norman, OK; 9 grandchildren: Jason Lee and wife Lindy, Melissa Weathersbee and husband Tim, Candy Deckard and husband Kenneth, Penny Lee, Michelle Campbell and husband Marshall, Bonnie Dudgeon and husband Brian, David Beers and wife Emily, Kiley Porter and Kelly Porter; 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
