IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lola Fern
Maxfield
January 24, 1956 – September 21, 2023
Lola Fern Maxfield, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this world on September 21, 2023, surrounded by the comfort of her home in Arnett, Oklahoma. She was born on January 24, 1956, in the quiet town of Shattuck, Oklahoma, to the loving embrace of her parents, Ivan Fred Clearwater and Katherine (Cooprider) Clearwater. She was the fourth child of six. Lola's life was a testament to the values of family, community, and compassion.
Lola spent her early years on the family farm east of Arnett, where she cultivated a deep appreciation for the beauty of rural life. She was a proud graduate of Arnett Public Schools, earning her diploma with the Class of 1974. Her thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where she pursued her education until 1978.
On February 8, 1978, Lola exchanged vows with the love of her life, Teddy Lewis Maxfield, in a heartfelt ceremony in Little Axe, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: daughters Sarah and Katherine "Katie," and son Joseph "Thad." Lola cherished her role as a mother and poured her heart into nurturing and guiding her children, instilling in them the values of kindness, love, and integrity.
Lola was a dedicated professional who embarked on a fulfilling career in social work with the Department of Human Services (DHS). Her work touched the lives of many, and her commitment to helping those in need left an indelible mark on her community.
Her green thumb was the envy of many, as Lola had an innate talent for gardening. Her love for the outdoors was evident in every vibrant bloom and flourishing plant she tended. She also found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, doting on her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily Hall.
A deeply spiritual person, Lola's faith provided her with strength and solace throughout her life's journey. She had a special place in her heart for children and was known as the favorite of all the kids who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lola reunites in eternal peace with her parents, Ivan and Katherine Clearwater, as well as her brothers, Donald Wayne Clearwater and James "Jimmy" Craig Clearwater, and her brother-in-law, Jim Howe. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, carried on by her children: daughter Sarah Hall and husband Ben of Woodward, Oklahoma; daughter Katie Moyer and husband Tim of Annapolis, Maryland; and son Thad Maxfield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her memory will forever shine bright through her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily Hall. Also left to remember her are her sister Bernice McKerrow and husband Omar of Lee's Summit, Missouri, sister Eulena Clearwater of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and brother Larry Clearwater and wife Lori of Arnett, Oklahoma.
Lola also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews as well as a vast circle of cherished friends and loved ones who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Lola Fern Maxfield will forever be remembered for her boundless love, unwavering faith, and her enduring legacy of kindness and compassion. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. May she rest in eternal peace.
