Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 4, 2014, 11:00 a.m.at the Harmon Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at the Harmon Cemetery.

Lonnie Earl Smith, son of Elmer Earl and May Bell (Coe) Smith, was born in Elmer, OK on October 14, 1941. He passed from this life November 29, 2014 in the Woodward Hospital, Woodward, OK at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 15 days.
Lonnie was raised in Southwest Oklahoma, attending South Side Public Schools in Hess, OK. He graduated with the Class of 1959. Lonnie joined the United States Army, serving his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP4 on the 31st day of October 1969.
On June 20, 1970, Lonnie was united in marriage to Nelda Marie Dollins at the First Assembly of God Church in Altus, OK. They made their first home in Olustee, OK, moving to Arnett, OK, and settling in Harmon, OK in 1978. The union was blessed with two children, Jeffrey Alan and Kayla Dawn. Lonnie worked for Eagle Picher Copper Mines, the Tonkawa Refinery in Harmon and the Arnett Public School. Due to health problems Lonnie retired from the school and began working for Oliver Hixson, farming and ranching. He remained on the farm for twelve years. Lonnie found great enjoyment on the ranch.
Lonnie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His grandchildren provided him many hours of entertainment. He was a writer, writing poetry and songs, he also spent many hours doing wood work and reading. Lonnie served on the Harmon Cemetery Board and on the Harmon Nazarene Church Board. Lonnie had been baptized as a young man in the Baptist Church in Olustee and was a member of the Harmon Church of the Nazarene.
On May 26, 2005 Lonnie endured a great loss with the passing of his son and best friend, Jeffrey Smith. Other family members that preceded him in death were his parents, Elmer and May Bell Smith, brother, John Smith, in-laws, James and Marie Dollins, and brother-in-law, Dwayne Dollins. Survivors include, his wife Nelda of the home in Harmon, OK; daughter, Kayla Elder and husband Jamie of Elk City, OK; daughter-in-law, Sawaya Smith of Harmon, OK; brother, Leroy Smith and wife Amy of Altus, OK; six grandchildren: Wyatt Boyer, Garrett Boyer, Hannah Boyer, and Ryan Elder of Elk City, OK, Brittany Cole and husband Matthew of Yukon, OK, and Braxton Smith of Harmon, OK; sister-in-law, Sara Smith of Elmer, OK and brother-in-law, Bill Dollins of Shawnee, OK; several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
