Obituary

Lottie Lucinda (Ashlock) Lynes, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at the age of 87 years at the Vici Nursing Home in Vici, Oklahoma.

Born on March 14, 1937, at the family farm near Rosston, Oklahoma, Lottie was the daughter of John Lewis 'Jack' Ashlock and Della Agnes (Paulk) Ashlock. At the age of five, she moved with her family to a farm near Doby Springs, Oklahoma, where another sister was born into the family. Lottie attended the one-room schoolhouse at Doby Springs through the 5th grade and then continued her education by taking the bus to Buffalo, Oklahoma. During her time at Buffalo, she found the Lord and became a member of the First Methodist Church.

In 1955, Lottie graduated from Buffalo High School. She worked at the grade school lunchroom, washed dishes and waited tables for Louise Murry at the Harper Café. It was there she met the love of her life, James 'Jack' Lynes. They were married on November 5, 1955, at the Christian Church parsonage in Woodward, Oklahoma, and began their life together on a ranch owned by Dr. Ruble near Selman, OK.  In 1957 they moved to a farm near Sharon, Oklahoma, where they raised their three children, Lelia, Chelcie, and Allen.

A devastating fire in 1959 destroyed their home, but Lottie and Jack's spirit and resilience helped them rebuild.  They bought a farm, built a house and it was home for 50 years. Lottie worked side by side with Jack on the farm and also babysat for over a hundred children throughout the years. She was known for her strong faith and dedication to her church communities, including the South Persimmon Baptist Church and the First Methodist Church in Sharon, where she served in the nursery and volunteered for vacation Bible school.

Lottie was an active member of the South Persimmon Home Demonstration Club, the Turner Quilting Club, and served in various leadership roles within the Vici Order of the Eastern Star. In 2011, she moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where she continued to enjoy the fellowship of the First Methodist Church and the Woodward Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the Activity Committee at the Center, participated in the sing a longs and enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Ashlock and Della Ashlock Proffet, her stepfather Bernard Proffet, her beloved husband Jack Lynes, son Chelcie Lynes and daughter Lelia Cutsinger. Her sister Lillie Drew, brother-in-law Don Drew, her brother E.L. Ashlock and brother-in-law Duane Waugh.  A daughter-in-law Linda Lynes, niece Connie Drew, nephew Michael Levings and other loved ones. She is survived by her son Allen Lynes of Sharon, OK, son-in-law Dennis Cutsinger of Vici, OK, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
