Obituary

Louis Edwin Evans was born in rural Woodward County on December 24, 1934 to John & Pearl (Ruark) Evans and departed this life on July 4, 2012 in Woodward Regional Hospital at the age of 77 years.
Louis was united in marriage to Vera Orpha Lynes on June 12, 1955 in the Bible Baptist Church of Woodward, OK. Two daughters: Sonya Renee and Teresa Dawn were born to this union. Louis and Orpha also became parents to Connie Lee Harrison, who having lost her mother in infancy, was raised as a sister to Sonya and Teresa.
Louis was a talented, self-made, hard working man. He also was an avid music and movie fan. Through these interests, he won many prizes answering questions posed on the radio after listening to a few notes of music or by identifying which actor played a particular character in a movie.
Louis was also very well read; to which his large collection of books attests. Many of his books are autographed or first editions.
Louis provided lovingly and well for his family, starting with his owner/operated tree trimming and removal business. Through the years Louis also worked as a roofer, as well as, in a zink smelter.
He worked for many years as warehouse manager for Eisemans Chemical Company. After his retirement, Louis went back to work as a courier service driver. Failing health caused him to retire completely a few months before his death.
Louis was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Bill Evans, and his Uncle Deck Ruark. He is survived by his devoted wife Orpha of the home; two daughters Sonya Coleman and her husband Steve—whom Louis considered a son—of Woodward, OK, and Teresa Evans of Healdsburg, CA, as well as, special "adopted" daughter Connie and husband R.C. Hedges of Mooreland, OK. He is also survived by one sister, Louise Outhier and husband Bud of Oklahoma City, OK sister-in-law Vena and husband Bill Bookstore of Woodward, OK, several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as, many cherished friends.
