Obituary

Lucille Wilma (Cully) Schneider, eldest child of Ernest (E.B.) and Sarah Cully was born July 26, 1913 on a farm southeast of Gage, Oklahoma. She walked or rode horseback to the one-room school house named Pleasant Valley until she graduated from the eighth grade. She then drove a Model A Ford to Gage High School where she attended until she graduated in 1932. After commuting to Gage in order to work as a clerk in a store for approximately three years, she married Raymond (R.J.) Schneider, September 12, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma. Together they lived on and operated a farm south of Fargo, Oklahoma from 1935 to 1945. The couple purchased a farm east of Arnett, Oklahoma in 1945 where they spent the remainder of their lives, with the exception of Lucille residing in the Shattuck Nursing Center for the last three years. Lucille went to meet the Lord on February 21, 2014 at the age of 100. Lucille was baptized as a teenager at the Gage Beach and remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ all her life. Originally she attended the Gage Church of Christ until 1945. When she moved to Arnett she regularly attended there until entering the nursing home. She was a Sunday school teacher and helped the sick and bereaved, assisting with funeral dinners, etc. She also belonged to the Arnett Library Club, Home Demonstration Club, and several quilting groups. Lucille and Raymond were married over 65 years before his passing in 2003. Born to this union were two sons; Dennis Ray ( and his wife Gladys married for over 50 years) at Cimarron, New Mexico and Terry Lynn of Arnett, Oklahoma Lucille loved being a homemaker, mother and farmer's helpmate to Raymond. Preceding her in death were husband, R.J., parents, Ernest and Sarah Cully; brothers, Harold and Lloyd Cully, and grandson Zane Schneider. Loved ones remaining are sons Dennis and Terry; grandson, Clay Schneider and wife Andrea of Albuquerque, New Mexico and great-grandsons James and David. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a life time of friends. Lucille was born to some of the earliest Ellis County settlers and lived over one hundred years in this county
