Marcia Ann
(Moore) Cooke
December 29, 1956 – October 31, 2020
Marcia Ann (Moore) Cooke went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2020 at 63 years old, after a valiant battle
with ovarian cancer.
Marcia was the oldest child born to Robert and Shirley Moore on December 29, 1956 in Altus, Oklahoma
at the Air Force Military Base. Marcia grew up in Freedom and Camargo, Oklahoma where she played
middle school basketball with her father as her coach. She attended high school in Vici and Canute,
Oklahoma where she was a star player on the basketball team. She scored as much as 56 points in one
single game, which helped her to earn numerous awards including All-State Honorable Mention. Marcia
was also active in 4-H showing pigs and sheep, and she enjoyed sewing.
Marcia attended Oklahoma State University where she was involved with Kappa Delta sorority, AGR
Rhomates and played OSU basketball her Sophomore and Junior years. She married Dan Jefferies in
1978 and graduated from OSU in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education.
Marcia was working at Stillwater Middle School when she had her first child, Brooke, in 1981. She then
moved to Texas where she taught in Little Elm and at Griffin Middle School, where she met and then
later married Phil Cooke in 1990. Her second child, Lauren, was born in 1991. Marcia went on to coach
at Lamar Middle School, then helped open Briarhill Middle School where she retired from in 2017 after
35 years of teaching and coaching.
Marcia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior while living in Camargo, Oklahoma. She rededicated her life
and was baptized after she married Phil. Marcia was a loyal and active member of the church
throughout her life.
Marcia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herman and Viola Myers; paternal
grandparents, Jacob and Jessie Moore; and her sister, Leisa Moore. She is survived by her husband, Phil
Cooke; her children, Brooke Franks and her husband, Chris Franks; Lauren Sanchez and her husband,
Chris Sanchez; her parents, Robert and Shirley Moore; her brother, Mark Moore and his wife Dee Ann
Moore; and her sister, Kay LeGrand and her husband Kevin LeGrand. Also surviving her are
grandchildren Braden, Kinley and Hudson Franks; Avery and Spencer Sanchez, as well as many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Marcia's celebration of life will be held Wednesday, November 4 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in
Lewisville, Texas; conducted by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home.
A memorial service will also be held Friday, November 6 at 11:00 am at the Camargo Community Building in Camargo, Oklahoma; conducted by Shaw Funeral Home.
