Born on December 2, 1946, in Elk City, Oklahoma, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of Buford and Juanita (Edwards) Kenney. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a profound impact on the lives of those she touched.
In 1977, Marilyn relocated to Oklahoma City, where she would build a fulfilling life and contribute significantly to her community. On November 8, 1980, she married Frederick "Allen" McGlasson at the Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their union was marked by love, companionship, and shared values.
Marilyn's passion for education led her to pursue a Master's Degree in Education. For 27 years, she served as a teacher in the Putnam City School System and in Oklahoma City. Marilyn's commitment to her students went beyond the classroom. She embraced her role as an educator, making a lasting impact on countless young lives, fostering their growth, and encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Marilyn was an active member of her community. She devoted her time to the Putnam City Retirees Travel Club, where she built enduring friendships and shared many memorable experiences. Additionally, she was a member of the 1st Bank of Perry Travel Club, expanding her horizons through exploration and adventure.
Marilyn's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was an esteemed member of the Church of the Servant. Her dedication to her spiritual community brought her comfort, strength, and a sense of purpose. Through her faith, she found solace and shared her love and compassion with others.
As a testament to her caring nature, Marilyn selflessly volunteered her time and energy to various causes. She delighted in contributing to school libraries in the Putnam City area, where her passion for learning continued to inspire young minds. Her involvement with the regional food bank showcased her commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting those in need. Marilyn also found joy in participating in the letter carriers food drive, making a difference in the lives of countless individuals and families.
In her leisure time, Marilyn found delight in square dancing, where she reveled in the lively rhythm and cherished the camaraderie of her fellow dancers. Her love for dance was a reflection of her vibrant spirit and zest for life.
Marilyn LeWayne McGlasson was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Buford and Juanita Kenney, and her cherished nephew, Lane Liga. She leaves behind a loving husband, Frederick "Allen" McGlasson, who shared in her journey and offered unwavering support throughout their years together. Marilyn is also survived by her sister, Sherry Liga, and husband Dan of Edmond, Oklahoma, and her beloved niece, Lindsay Liga and fiancé Jeremy White of Dallas, Texas. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
