Marvin Ladd, 70 year old Woodward resident died Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 in the United Methodist Church in Vici with Reverend Doug Shields and Reverend Don Whitman officiating. Military rites provided by the United States Army.
Marvin Lee Ladd was born on February 16, 1941 near Cestos, Oklahoma to Loyd and Ilo (Helmick) Ladd. Marvin grew up in the Cestos and Vici communities graduating from Vici High School with the Class of 1959. Marvin joined the United States Army on March 1, 1963. He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1969.
Marvin was united in marriage to Lorna Arlene White on October 2, 1960 in Vici, Oklahoma. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Kimberly in 1964, and Shelby in 1967.
On March 6, 1976 Marvin married Marty Foster. They lived in Waukomis, Oklahoma for a time and Marvin operated Ladd Dozer Service. They moved to Naches, Washington for a short period before returning to Oklahoma in 1999 to live in Woodward.
One of Marvin's favorite pastimes was flying and he was a good pilot. On June 27, 1971 he flew his first solo flight.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Ilo Ladd; sisters, Myra Nebhut and husband Carl, Leona Newman, and Linda Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife Marty of Enid, Oklahoma; daughters, Kimberly Wolf and husband Tom Charbeneau of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Shelby Winn and husband Denis of Shawnee, Oklahoma; step-children, Steve Sheldon of Washington State, Boston Vanlandingham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Shannon Perry and husband Trey of Drummond, Oklahoma; sister, Nada Beth Rowland of Vici, Oklahoma; brother, Gary Ladd and wife Rita of Woodward, Oklahoma; uncles, Leo Helmick and wife Ima Jean of Vici, Oklahoma, Keith Ladd and wife Marquita of Camargo, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Austin Winn; three step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
