Obituary

Marvin (Pete) Glenn Miller was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on April 10, 1942, to the parents of Charlie and Francis Miller. He was the youngest son of seven children: Lucille Bradford, Fred Miller, Helen Abeyta, Velma Schulz, Melba Russell, and Charles Miller, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pete attended elementary schools in Taloga and Alfalfa, Oklahoma before moving to Madera, California where he attended school before moving back to Oklahoma his senior year where he graduated from Camargo and met and married his love, Shirley Jones in 1962. He had many jobs from working at the Camargo Grain Elevator and with the harvest crew. He and Shirley moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where Pete drove a truck for Coca-Cola. They were blessed with their first daughter, Natalie. He later was transferred to work for Coca-Cola in El Paso, Texas where he began attending electronic night school with his best buddy, Gary Saylor.

After graduating from electronic school, Pete moved his family to Pampa, Texas to work for a logging company before being employed by Celanese Chemical Company. He and Shirley were blessed with two more daughters, Michelle, and Glenda. Again, he transferred with Celanese moving the family to Houston, Texas. Here, he started a long career and made life-long friends he considers family.

Pete worked in the chemical business for 33 years, working his way up from operator to plant manager at Terra Nitrogen Plant, back in Woodward, Oklahoma. He managed plants in Blytheville, Arkansas and took an assignment at a plant in Bristol, England. Retiring in year 2000, Pete and Shirley moved into their small cattle ranch/home south of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They ran 200+ head of angus cattle until health reasons made them decide to sale the ranch and move to Edmond, Oklahoma in year 2014.

Pete was baptized into the First Christian Church in Blytheville, AR. (1989) He is survived by one sister, Helen Abeyta in Belin, New Mexico, wife Shirley, and children; Natalie Wilson, Michelle Robertson, and Glenda Ross. Pete and Shirley had four grandchildren: Dylan Dirickson, Izabella Ross, Kennedy Ross, and Jaden Robertson. In-laws include Lloyd Wilson, Mic Ross, and Jesse Dirickson, adding two great grand-daughters, Lyric Dirickson and Ember Dirickson. Through years of hard work, he accomplished having his dream ranch to share with family.

"I spend most of my time at the ranch with my family, and enjoy life-watch the sun come up, watch it go down, thank God for another day, and just be happy."—Marcus Luttrell
