IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matthew Ray
Hohweiler
September 4, 1973 – December 14, 2017
Matthew "Matt" Ray Hohweiler, a 44 year old resident of Fargo, Oklahoma, passed from this life unexpectedly on December 14, 2017. Matt was born in Woodward, Oklahoma, on September 4,1973, to Starlene Ann Hamaker and Max Ray Hohweiler.
Matt attended Fargo and Gage Public Schools respectively, graduating from Gage High School with the class of 1992. Matt continued his education at OSU-Okmulgee with an interest in CAD Drafting. One year of college was all he needed to realize it was not for him; nor did he like being so far from home. Matt worked in the oilfield industry driving trucks and operating heavy equipment. At his passing Matt was employed by Tucker Construction, where he had worked for the last four years out of Alva, Oklahoma as truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He loved what he did.
Matt lived most of his life in the Fargo and Gage areas. He lived in Woodward, Oklahoma, a few years where he met and married Angella Dawn Haggerty on September 22, 2003. To this union were his children, Fred and RaeAnn Hohweiler and stepdaughter Shakia Barby. The family later made their home in Fargo, Oklahoma.
Most important to Matt was protecting and providing for his family. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling. He was a man's man. His love for these things began when his dad gave him his first rifle as a boy along with the lesson of respecting it. As Matt grew into a man, the biggest influence of hunting and all things outdoors came from his relationship with Rex Schroeder including introducing Matt to bow hunting.
Matt spent countless hours with his Granddad Harold, most of which included working at the H&R Tire Shop. There was a special bond between Matt and both his grandparents, Harold and Rae Dean Hamaker.
Matt was quick to tease and add humor to all situations. This was the core of Matt's character. Those who met him for a minute or had the privilege of calling him friend can attest to his sense of silliness to put those around him at ease.
Matt is survived by his wife, Angella Hohweiler and children Fred and RaeAnn of the home, stepdaughter, Shakia Barby of Laverne, Oklahoma; his parents, Star Hamaker and Ray and Lynn Hohweiler; his sister Becky (Hohweiler) Moore and her husband, Kevin of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his stepbrother Micheal Inman and his wife Beth of Woodward, Oklahoma; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Robin Haggerty; brother-in-law, Bobby Podowick; sisters-in-law, Crystal Haggerty and Tammi Lawrence ; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his stepbrother Rick Inman; his grandparents, Harold and Rae Dean Hamaker and Jake and Jewell Hohweiler; and brother-in-law James Podowick.Visitation
