Melvin "Roy" Leroy Ball, 82 year old resident of Woodward, Oklahoma, passed from this life on July 3, 2015, at the Vici Nursing Home. Roy was born to George and Josie (Fothergill) Ball on April 18, 1933, in Sharon, Oklahoma.
Roy was raised on the family farm and graduated from Sharon High School in 1954. He joined the United States Air Force on October 25, 1954, and proudly served His country until he was honorably discharged on October 24, 1958. He continued his service in the Reserves until October 24, 1962.
Roy married Arnetta May Hunter on March 24, 1954. They made their home in Woodward, Oklahoma, where he worked for the city of Woodward for 27 years retiring in 1994. The couple was blessed with five children, Larry, Glenda, Sheila, Kay, and Lindin Leroy. Roy enjoyed fishing and going camping.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents George and Josie Ball, infant son Lindin Leroy, brothers Wilfred and Billie Bob Ball, sisters Audrey Crites, Willamae Selby Stanley and Betty Jo Davidson, sister-in-law Marilyn Ann Ball and brothers-in-law Lemuel Jackson, Earl Wayland, Richard Selby and Marion Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of the home in Woodward, Arnetta; son Larry Ball; daughters Kay Husketh, Sheila Childress, and Glenda Garrison and husband Rick all of Woodward, Oklahoma; brother John Ball; sisters Patsy McDaniel, Ramona Jackson and Norma Story and husband Jerry; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Bernice Ball and Donna Ball; many nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
