Obituary

Frank Melvin Terrel was born May 2, 1944 at Cestos, Oklahoma to Frank and Iva Davis Terrel. He passed from this life on May 29, 2013 at his home in Vici, Oklahoma.

Melvin grew up on the family farm near Cestos, Oklahoma. His first seven years of school was at Richmond where he was batboy for the baseball team and teacher's favorite. When Richmond school closed in the spring of 1957 he was transferred to Vici attending the seventh grade through graduation. Melvin graduated with the class of 1964. He attended welding school at Woodward and worked in the welding trade at Enid, Oklahoma and later in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for Roberson Steel. Melvin had a brief stay in Tahlequah, Oklahoma before moving to Oklahoma City where he met Barbara Morris. The couple united in marriage in Oklahoma City on January 6, 1967. The wedding took place at the Purdue Church of the Firstborn with Clifford Kirkpatrick officiating. They later moved to Vici, Oklahoma and made their home. They were blessed with two daughters, Christy and Ginger and one son, Casey. Christy married Benny Watkins, Ginger married Leonard Holman and Casey married Megan Teamer. Christy and Benny had three children. Son Brock, whom God took at birth and Charity and Chesney. Ginger and Leonard had six children: Kaleb, Kassie, Kade, Jace, Jerica and Jaron. Casey and Megan were blessed with two children, Haven and Cason. Melvin's joy and pleasure was his grandchildren. Melvin always told his grandchildren that he was the smartest and cutest boy in his class, failing to tell them he was the only boy in his Class of Richmond. On December 20, 1997 the couple endured a heart ache of losing daughter Christy. Benny married Jill Gardner and they were blessed with three daughters: Ashlyn, Kylan and Jaydan whom Melvin loved and claimed as his own. Melvin had a special relationship with brother-in-law, Allen Moss. Allen and sister Eula was his rock of influence and he confided in them many times.

Melvin was hired by Northwestern Electric Cooperative at Woodward in 1968 where he was gainfully employed until 1999. He worked as a lineman and enjoyed the fellowship of the line crew. Melvin started to work the same time as Frank Tuck and they remained close friends. He built close relationships with Dwayne Halderman, Steve Lawrence, Kenny Castor and many others. One of Melvin's last requests was to be taken from the church to the cemetery in the REC bucket truck.

Melvin enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent hours at his family pond entertaining others and a special time of relaxation. He loved challenging family members to a contest of how many fish could be caught. He never lost! He was a great outdoorsman, harvesting many large deer and always had time for a good pitch game with family.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Iva Terrel, brother Gilbert and wife Crystal, daughter Christy Watkins, two grandchildren, Brock and Charity Watkins, father and mother-in-law, Fred and Marie Morris and sister-in-law, Kathryn Morris.

Melvin is survived by his wife Barbara of the home in Vici; daughter Ginger Holman and husband Leonard of Clinton, Oklahoma; son Casey Terrel and wife Megan of Blanchard, Oklahoma; son-in-law Benny Watkins and wife Jill of Vici; grandchildren, Chesney Moss and husband Charlie, Ashlyn, Kylan and Jaydan Watkins, Kaleb, Kassie, Kade, Jace, Jerica and Jaron Holman, Haven and Cason Terrel; sister Eula Mae Moss and husband Allen of Vici; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Morris and wife Judy of Windsor, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
