Merdith Marie Buck was born December 6, 1919, on the family farm seven miles east of Vici, OK, to Guy and Jennie (Piercy) Randolph. She passed from this life in her sleep at the Vici Nursing Home September 6, 2009.
Merdith's family moved north of Vici for a short period of time before moving into Vici. At this time in her life, Merdith contracted and was stricken down with a harsh disease and had to learn to walk again. Later in life it was discovered she had Polio. The family moved back, east of Vici, where Merdith experienced many wonderful years living a short distance from her grandparents. Merdith attended the Sunnyside country school up to the eighth grade. She completed her education at Vici High School graduating with the Class of 1937.
Merdith was united in marriage to John Buck, Jr. July 27, 1940 in Woodward, OK. They shared their life together on a farm where Merdith enjoyed being a farmer's wife. Two lovely daughters blessed this union, Sondra Kay and Darlene Marie. Donna Delea joined the family after Merdith and Jr. adopted her after the loss of her parents, Jack and Viva VanDyke. Merdith raised her family to have the same loving and caring values that she was taught. She and Jr. created another loving home.
Merdith gave her heart to the Lord and always tried to serve him. She was baptized at the age of 14. She was a Charter Member of the First Christian Church of Vici, where she remained a loyal member for the rest of her life. She started teaching children's Sunday school in her early twenties and continued for over 60 years. She found it to be very rewarding to work with the little children. She loved not only her family but her church family as well.
Merdith enjoyed staying busy. She worked at the Best Way Food Store from 1966 to 1980. Thereafter, she volunteered her time for the church's Mission House. Throughout her life she enjoyed activities such as crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She especially enjoyed quilting with the women's church group.
