It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Klem, a devoted son, brother, and veteran, who departed this world on December 13, 2023. Michael's life journey began on October 17, 1960, in Enid, OK, where he was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Mary and Cecil Klem.
Michael spent his formative years in Shattuck, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1979 before embarking on a higher education journey. He attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman from 1979 to 1981, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Later in life, he pursued further studies at Lonestar College in Houston, Texas, from 2015 to 2019, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and development.
A proud and dedicated patriot, Michael faithfully served in the United States Army for the majority of his adult life. Stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, and St. Ives, England, he played a crucial role in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, showcasing his courage and dedication to duty. Michael also served as Military Intelligence in Europe, contributing his skills and expertise to the defense of his country.
Beyond his military service, Michael made a significant impact in the healthcare field as a Registered Nurse, specializing in Hemodialysis in Houston, Texas. His compassion and commitment to improving the lives of others left a lasting legacy in the medical community.
Michael's spiritual journey led him to the Holy Name Catholic Church, where he was baptized in 1963. Throughout his life, he remained connected to his faith, serving as an altar boy in his youth and maintaining a strong spiritual foundation.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Klem, and his grandparents, Emmett and Maxine Klem. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Klem of Shattuck, Oklahoma, and his devoted brother, Jeffrey Klem, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth, of Houston, Texas.
In honoring Michael's memory, let us remember his unwavering commitment to duty, his compassionate care in the medical field, and his enduring faith. As we say our farewells, may we find solace in the memories we shared and the impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
