James Michael "Mike" Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away peacefully Monday morning April 28th, 2025 surrounded by family. Born on January 4, 1957, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Jimmy and Christene Miller Wilson, Mike spent his life dedicated to farming and his community.

Growing up on the family farm northwest of Leedey, Mike developed a deep connection to the land. During his senior year in high school in 1975, he purchased his first farm where he initially planted cotton before transitioning to all wheat.

In 1979, Mike married Jerri Lynn Winingham, and together they raised two children, Nicole and Levi. His dedication to family was evident in the joy he found sharing his passions for farming and hunting with his five grandchildren. He loved attending all of their track meets, dance recitals, and BMX bike races. Mike always enjoyed his time on the river, from taking his children Nicole and Levi when they were young to spending time with his grandkids there as well.

Mike was very dedicated to the Leedey community. He was a member of the Leedey School Board, Leedey Education Foundation, Western Oklahoma Farm Credit Board, and Roger Mills County Excise Board. As President of Oklahoma Young Farmers, he was honored as Outstanding Farmer of the Year, for his hard work and dedication to the farming community.

Mike loved to travel alongside his wife Jerri and their group of close friends. Among a few favorites they explored Italy, France, Ireland, Nova Scotia, England, Scotland, and many other destinations. One of the best and frequent travel destinations of the friend group included ranger rides and hot dogs on the Canadian River. Even after his ALS diagnosis, their adventurous spirit led them through 19 states and 4,700 miles, culminating in visits to 46 states and 12 countries over the years.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wilson, and his sister, Linda Ommen. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Jerri Wilson; his children, Nicole Wilson and Levi & Eimear Wilson; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryleigh, Harley, Giannah, Ultan, and Ronan. He also leaves behind his mother, Christene Wilson; sister Joyce & Red Johnson; brother-in-law Roger Ommen; Jerry and Carolyn Winingham; Terry and Jana Kauk; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mike Wilson will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and the land he loved. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leedey Education Foundation , honoring Mike's lifelong commitment to education and community development.
