Mildred Marlene Garza, 79-year-old Leedey resident, passed from this life on December 23, 2017.  She was born March 9, 1938 to Glen Vernon and Nellie Kaye (Moxon) Newton in Leedey, OK.  Marlene spent all her younger life in Leedey, graduating from Leedey High School in 1956.  She moved to California in 1958 and soon met Mike Garza.  They were married on May 15, 1959 in Campbell, CA.  Marlene was a wonderful wife and mother and together they raised four children, Thomas, Michael, Diane and Judy.  After Mike retired in 2002, they made Leedey their home and enjoyed their leisure time together.  Marlene was baptized as a teenager and loved attending Leedey First Baptist Church.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Nellie Newton and one brother, Lynn Newton.

She is survived by her children Thomas Farris of Diamond Bar, CA, Michael Garza of El Centro, CA, Diane Barrayo of Santa Maria, CA, and Judy Parker of Newton, IA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Margie, Marcella, Betty, Thelma, Georgia, Helen, Walter and Denise; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
