Obituary

Milton Lee Smith was born October 4, 1938, to Harry & Vona (Care) Smith in San Angelo, Texas. He left to meet his Heavenly Father on August 6, 2019 in Oklahoma City at the age of 80. He returned to the homestead with his family outside of Harmon in 1939. Milton graduated from Arnett High School in 1957. In May of 57' he married Beverly New. They moved to Farmington, New Mexico, where he worked for a Power Line Company. They then moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where he went to school to earn a degree in body and fender work. In June of 1958 they welcomed their first son Jeff. After Milton graduated, they moved back to Harmon, Oklahoma, where he went to work for Vincent Chevrolet in Arnett. In October 1959 they welcomed their second son Gary.
Milton started his own body shop, Smith Body & Glass, while Drag Racing as a hobby. In 1964 he started running the Dairy with his father Harry. In 1974 he quit running the dairy and started farming and running cattle. All while doing this, Milton and a group of friends built race cars. In 1974 he and his buddies built a race car for his friend Buck Cadwell to compete in Pikes Peak Hill Climb Race. (You could say he was a very well rounded man and could do many things!) In 1979 he returned to the dairy business partnering with his son Gary. In 1986 Milton started Smith Waterwell Service, until turning the business over to his son Jeff in 2005. Milton spent the rest of his time farming and raising cattle. One of Milton's favorite pastimes was restoring classic cars with the help of his wife Beverly. (His absolute favorite was a 57' Chevy.)
Milton loved to support his kids and grandkids and never missed an opportunity to go to one of their car races, ball games, or stock shows.
Milton is preceded in death by both his parents, Harry & Vona Smith, his two infant sons, his In-laws Dale & Ione New, and 6 brother in-laws.
Milton is survived by his wife Beverly of 62 years, his son Jeff and wife, Lori of Harmon. His son Gary and wife Lynn of Arnett.
