Monte Ray Compton was born January 6, 1947 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. He was one of six children born to Raymond and Lucille (Gott) Compton. He passed from this life at home in Arnett, Oklahoma on March 1, 2011 at the age of 64 years.

Monte attended Arnett Schools and joined the United Sates Air Force in February 1965 at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in October 1968. In 1973 Monte married Patricia Ryan in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To this union two boys were born, Chad and Jared. Other than a couple years spent in Oklahoma City, Monte spent most of his life living in Arnett.

Monte was a rancher, but also held several other jobs over the years. Monte most recently worked for Ellis County District 3. Monte always enjoyed being outside quail hunting and most recently fishing with friends.

Monte is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucille Compton and three brothers, Max, Gary and Theron.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are sons, Chad Compton and wife Amanda of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jared Compton of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandson, Chase Compton; two sisters, Winona Derrick and Patricia Gann; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
