Obituary

Nancy Lea (Taylor) Ritter passed peacefully from this life on May 9, 2010, at her Shattuck home, with her family at her side. She was 73 at the time of her death. Nancy was born to Garry E. and Velma A. (Carter) Taylor on March 2, 1937 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The family made their home in Arlington, Kansas where Nancy began her school years. She attended grade school through her sophomore year in Arlington. The family moved to Ashland, Kansas in 1953 and Nancy completed her junior and senior year of high school in Ashland.

On August 21, 1955 Nancy and William (Bill) Ritter were united in marriage. The wedding ceremony was held in Ashland where they continued to make their home until 1964. Nancy and Bill welcomed the arrival of their two children, Douglas and Tamra Lea. The family moved, for a short period, to Meade, Kansas before moving to Shattuck, Oklahoma in 1966.

Nancy worked outside the home for a number of years as an Auditor for the Shattuck National Bank. However, her most loved job was being a wife and mother and taking care of her home and family. One of her big pleasures in life was listening to music. She also liked to garden and always enjoyed reading a good book. Nancy and Bill loved to travel and especially enjoyed vacationing in Colorado.

Nancy was baptized as a young woman in 1958. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Shattuck Library Board, and served as Director of the Pink Ladies at Newman Memorial Hospital.

Loved ones preceding her in death are here parents, Garry and Velma Taylor and brothers-in-law, Ray W. Rose, Frank Carmichael and Frank Dickerson.

Family members remaining to cherish her memory are husband, Bill Ritter of the home; children, Mr. & Mrs. Doug Ritter of Weatherford, OK and Mr. & Mrs. Mark Upchurch of Mustang, OK; grandchildren, Mr. & Mrs. Craig Ritter of Claremore, OK and children, Kylie and Sydnee, Mr. & Mrs. Trent Ritter of Carman, OK and children Annika & Addison, Lindsey Ritter of Tulsa, OK, Mr. & Mrs. Tanner Upchurch of Oklahoma City and daughter Ava, Mr. & Mrs. Taylor Upchurch of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mr. & Mrs. Ron Hoffman of Shattuck, OK; by many nieces, nephew, other family and a lifetime of friends.
