IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neil Edwin
Wingo
September 23, 1958 – February 25, 2025
Neil Edwin Wingo passed on to life with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was born to Donald Edwin Wingo and Wilma Gean (Jackson) Wingo on September 23, 1958 in Woodward, Oklahoma. He joined three sisters LaDonna, Kay and Earlene. The family was completed when his little sister, Renee was born.
He attended Woodward public schools and graduated with the class of 1976. Shortly thereafter Neil married LaDonna Wilson and they had one son, Dustin Shayne.
His father Donald was a superintendent of construction for Lee Wilson Construction and he took on the training of his son in construction especially in carpentry. Neil learned the trade of carpentry and was skilled and just as meticulous as his father in his work. Around 1986 the construction work slowed down and Donald couldn't keep even his son working. Neil moved to Illinois for a while but he returned to Woodward and made it his permanent home buying his own home in 1990. He was very proud to have accomplished home ownership.
His next job was working for Marcy Distributing, a job he enjoyed. In 1999 he went to work for Ace Lumberyard. His construction and carpentry knowledge was respected by contractors. They knew he would choose the best lumber to fill orders.
Through the years growing up the family spent summer vacations in Lake City, Colorado. Here Neil learned how to fish for trout in the mountain streams. Again Donald was the teacher.
Neil enjoyed spending his time at home working on his house and turning his garage into a carpenter's dream shop. He loved watching television either car racing or football especially his favorite team OU. He loved dachshunds and had a few of them through the years. His favorite was his beloved Kinky that passed away in 2023.
In recent years, as adults he and little sis, Renee, took five trips back to Lake City to enjoy the cool weather and fishing. He loved fishing for trout in the mountains of Colorado. This is where he has chosen to be laid to rest now that this earthly life is complete.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wilma Wingo, grandparents; Daisy and Eddie Jackson, Earl and Eunice Wingo Speck and Chet Speck. He is also preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Kay and Jackie D. Brimer and several cousins and other family.
Neil is survived by sisters LaDonna Foley (Jack), Earlene Weber (Greg) and Renee Wingo. He is survived by his son Dustin Shayne Clark and grandchildren: Chesnie Clark and fiancé Tyler Beer, Chase Clark, two great-grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews.
There will be no services at this time. The family will have a private celebration of Neil's life and honoring his wishes to complete his journey in the Colorado mountains. The family wishes to especially thank the Nurses and staff of Traditions Hospice in their care for Neil and his family.
