Nelda Marie (Dollins) Smith, 68 year old Harmon, OK. resident, passed from this life at the OU Medical Center in Edmond, OK. on December 21, 2020.  She was born June 17, 1952 in Altus, OK., one of three children of James Mabry and Clydia Marie (Ware) Dollins.

Her early childhood was spent in Altus, OK. and she attended Eugene Field school her first four years of school.  Her family moved to Hess, OK. where she was a student at South Side school thru the sixth grade and completed her basic education and graduated from Navaho school in Friendship, OK.  Nelda furthered her education by attending Altus Jr. College and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK.

On June 20, 1970 Lonnie Earl Smith and Nelda Marie Dollins were united in marriage at the Assembly of God Church in Altus, OK.  They made their first home in Olustee, OK. before moving to Arnett, OK. and settling in the community of Harmon, OK.  Two children blessed their home, a son, Jeffrey Allen and a daughter, Kayla Dawn.

Nelda was the Special Ed teacher at Arnett Public Schools and Fargo Public Schools and she was honored with the award of teacher of the year during her career.  Special education was such a passion for Nelda that after her retirement she returned to teaching as her hobby of choice.

Nelda enjoyed spending time with her family and chasing her grandkids.  She was baptized in the Baptist faith and after moving to Harmon she attended the Harmon Nazarene Church.  She was a willing worker, helping with dinners or when needed for other tasks.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her beloved husband, Lonnie, her precious son, Jeff, her brother, Dwayne Dollins and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Kayla Elder and son in law, Jamie of Arnett, OK.  Her special grandchildren, Brittany Cole and husband Matthew of Yukon, OK., Braxton Smith of Tempe, AZ., Wyatt Boyer of Harmon, OK., Garrett Boyer of Altus, OK., Hannah Boyer of Arnett, OK. and Ryan Elder of Arnett, OK.  Twin great granddaughters, Sydney and Sawyer Cole of Yukon, OK., her brother, Billy Dollins of Shawnee, OK., daughter in law, Sawaya Smith of Yukon, OK. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
