Nola Lorene Kauk, longtime resident of Leedey, Oklahoma, passed from this life on February 11, 2008 at the age of 88. Lorene was born December 7, 1919 in the Rhea Community, southeast of Leedey, to William Henry and Magnolia (Troutman) Robertson. She began her school years at Rhea School and graduated from Leedey High School with the Class of 1938.
Lorene was united in marriage on March 18, 1939 to Erwin W. Kauk. They were blessed with the birth of their two sons, Gary and Terry. Lorene and Erwin established their home on a farm southeast of Leedey. She was a loving mother and a hard working helper to Erwin.
Lorene liked to spend time reading, crocheting, quilting, and doing needlepoint. She enjoyed cooking for her family and always had a dish ready to take to a church or community function. Her real joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play football, tennis, baseball or basketball.
Lorene was baptized as a young woman and was a faithful member of the Leedey Untied Methodist Church.
Lorene lived on the family farm her entire married life until she was forced to enter the Leedey Nursing Home due to her failing health. She had many good friends there and always enjoyed visiting with them and all those who came by to see her. She always appreciated the kind and good care the staff provided her.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Kauk; her parents, William and Magnolia Robertson; by brothers, Floyd, Adrian, Claude, and Kenny; by brother-in-law, Buddy Kauk; and sister-in-law, Doris Kauk.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are sons, Gary Kauk and wife Pat of Liberal, KS and Terry Kauk and wife Jana of Leedey, OK; by grandchildren, Tony Kauk and wife Rhonda of Yukon, OK, Brock Kauk and wife Jenny of Elk City, OK, Dee Dawn Graham and husband David of Edmond, OK, and Nick Kauk of Edmond, OK; by great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hayden, Emily, Spencer, Grayson, Savannah, and Elizabeth; by brothers-in-law, Roy Kauk and wife Jessie and Paul Kauk; by sisters-in-law, Ruth Robertson, Audrey Robertson, and Doris Rhoades; by several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
