March 19, 1929 – March 12, 2024
Norma Lee (Heinsohn) Miller, 94, of Arnett went to be with our Lord and Savior March 12th, 2024. Norma was born March 19,1929 to Ivan and Martha (Shelton) Heinsohn in a little two room house 16 miles south of Arnett. She started School at Packsaddle in a one room School House. At mid-term her family moved about 3 miles northwest to the Laraby place where she finished first grade at the Pinkston School House. At the end of the school year Pinkston was consolidated and the students were bussed to Arnett. After Graduating High School Norma worked in the Agriculture Office at the Courthouse in Arnett. On July 10th, 1948, she was united in marriage to Max E. Miller at the Baptist Church Parsonage in Arnett. Max and Norma lived in the Pinkston Community until they built their home two miles South of Arnett in 1976. In 2011 they moved to a new home they built in Arnett. Norma's golden years were spent with excellent care at the Shattuck Nursing Center. Max and Norma were blessed with four children Lola Marie, Eddie Max, Teddy Ray, and Nancy Lee. Norma was a stay-at-home mom and bookkeeper/farm hand for her and Max's farming-ranching operation. Norma began working at the Ellis County Abstract office then moved to Pratt Ford Tractor which later became Arnett New Holland/Kubota where she was the bookkeeper and operated the Tag Agency for 17 years. Norma was very active in the community. She was a member of the Arnett Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years, always willing to help with the advancement of the community. Norma was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Arnett, with Church activities ranging from Sunday School Teacher to Church Treasure for over 40 years. Her passion and support for her community generated many improvements to the Town of Arnett from a new Fellowship Hall, new Church Building, new Senior Citizens Center, new Park Pavilion, and many other improvements. Life really got busy when Max and Norma bought their first motor home and decided to start traveling and visiting relatives from one coast to the other. Many other motor homes and years followed before they became Snowbirds, sharing their time between Arnett in the summer and McAllen, Texas in winter. Life was busy in South Texas with a whole new set of friends and activities. Norma enjoyed staying at home, painting, quilting, reading, and her grandchildren. When she wasn't home, she could be found dancing, fishing, or swimming with Max in one of the many swimming holes he built over the years. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Max, daughter Lola and son-in-law Leslie Pshigoda, parents Ivan and Martha Heinsohn, brothers Doyle, Raymond, Rollin, Junior Heinsohn, and sister Margaret Town.
