O.B. Gann was born February 28, 1920 in Wayne, Oklahoma to Charles Batie and Zada Myrtle (Alexander) Gann. He spent his early childhood in Camargo and Leedey. He attended school at Camargo. O.B. passed from this life on April 9, 2010 at 90 years of age.
On January 12, 1941 O.B. was united in marriage to Ardell Nicholson and to this union one son, Jimmie, was born.
He and Ardell lived in Vici where O.B. was a welder, machinist, mechanic and custom harvester. They moved to South Dakota in 1963 to a farm/ranch which they had purchased earlier. O.B. loved to "tinker" and always had an ongoing project. One of his last big accomplishments was building a smoker/charcoal grill for his church, First United Methodist Church of Woodward.
O.B. enlisted in the United States Army the first time on March 3, 1937. He served in Company "B", 38th Infantry at the rank of Private First Class, and was discharged March 7, 1940. O. B. reenlisted May 12, 1944, serving this time with Company "A" 59th Armored Infantry Battalion at the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded several ribbons, medals and two bronze service stars during this enlistment. O.B. was honorably discharged February 28, 1946.
Those preceding O.B. in death are his wife Ardell; parents, Batie and Myrtle Gann; brothers, Kenneth, Gene, and Ralph Gann; sisters, Leona Gann and Blanch Donley.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Jimmie Gann and wife Patricia of Woodward, OK; granddaughter, Krista Gann of Oklahoma City; sisters, Billie Lea Leonard of Ava, MO, Hazel Brown of Marlow, OK, Betty Joe Lucas and husband Gene of Enid, OK, and Zada Poage and husband Delbert of Enid, OK; brother, Sam Gann and wife Carol of Oklahoma City, OK, plus special friend, Lorena Cadwell of Vici, OK.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Woodward, OK or the Woodward Senior Citizens Center.
