Octavia Eileen Harvey, born January 15, 1919, passed from this life on February 5, 2012, in Lake City, Florida at the age of 93. She was one of seven children, born to John William and Viola Edith (Franklin) Looney at Molalla, Oregon. She attended a country school up to the 8th grade, walking everyday with her cousin and best friend, Derial Lorenz, who lived with the family. Several times they saw cougars while on their way. Charlie Ross Harvey moved to Oregon from Southeastern Colorado during the dust bowl days. He met Eileen and they married September 15, 1937. Four sons were born to this union: Theodore Nathanial, Rex Leon, Francis Allen, and Roger Wayne. During their marriage they lived in Oregon, Laverne and Camargo, Oklahoma. Eileen was a loving wife and mother, taking care of the home and enjoying her work in the garden. She attended church every where they lived.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Ross, son Francis Allen, daughter-in-law Janice Marie Harvey, grandson Teddy Wayne Harvey, parents John and Viola Looney, brothers Eldon, Melvin, Nathanial and Raymond Looney and special cousin Derial Lorenz.
She is survived by sons Theodore Nathanial and wife Joan of Woodward, Oklahoma, Rex Leon of Bloomfield, New Mexico, and Roger Wayne and wife Cheryl of Lake City, Florida; daughter-in-law Sue Harvey of Boswell, Oklahoma; sisters Odean Thalander of Oregon City, Oregon and Lavera Owens of southern Oregon; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; other family and a host of friends.
