Oleta Wanda Bernaud, 91 year old Palestine, TX resident, passed from this life on October 10, 2014 in Tyler, TX. Oleta was born August 6, 1923 to Herman and Willie Dee (Williams) King in Ellis County, OK.

Oleta attended Higgins Public Schools graduating from Higgins High School in 1940. On September 24, 1942 Oleta married Alva Earl Bernaud in Arnett, OK. The couple was blessed with two children, Sharion and Jerry. The family lived in Fresno, CA, and Atlanta, GA before moving to Higgins, TX. Oleta was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church of Higgins, and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Women's Club and the Docilis Club while in Higgins. In Oleta's spare time she loved to sew, quilt, knit, and crochet.

Oleta was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Earl Bernaud, after fifty three years of marriage; her parents, Herman and Willie Dee King, and brother Delbar Lee King.

She is survived by daughter, Sharion Richardson and husband Don of Elkhart, TX; son, Jerry Bernaud and wife Sharon of Canton, TX; four grandchildren, Blair and Marti Richardson of Aurora, CO, Brent and Lynette Bernaud of Tulsa, OK, Shauna Richardson and Chad Hittle of Tyler, TX, and Brian and Becky Bernaud of Amarillo, TX; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Richardson, Matthew and Tyler Hittle and Briar Bernaud; an aunt, a nephew, and a host of friends.
