Peggy Lynn Nelson, long time resident of Taloga, OK passed from this life on August 18, 2022, in Milwaukee, Oregon. Peggy was born on February 10, 1946, to Dorothy Lee and Juanita Vyrl Wood Craig in Leedey, OK. Peggy grew up on the family farm near Trail, OK and attended Leedey Public School graduating with the Class of 1964. Peggy was an excellent basketball player, leading the Lady Bison to the state tournament.
On July 25, 1964, Peggy married the love of her life Doug Nelson at the Leedey First Baptist Church. Doug joined the Navy and the couple moved to North Kingston, RI, where they were blessed with a daughter, Kelly. The family moved to Okmulgee, OK after the War and the couple had their second child, Stacey. They then returned to the Nelson farm near Putnam, OK where a son, Coby joined the family.
Peggy was a homemaker for her family, also working beside Doug on the farm. She worked at Taloga Public Schools and the United States Post Office in Clinton, OK. She enjoyed painting, writing short stories, sewing, making quilts and watching her children and later grandchildren play sports.
As a teenager, Peggy was baptized into the Baptist Faith, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seiling, OK and attended the Baptist Church in Taloga as well, here she participated in Sunday School.
Preceding Peggy in death were her husband, Doug Nelson, parents, Lee and Juanita Craig, sister, Luella Windburn, brother-in-law, Loyd Windburn and nephews, Kirby Windburn and Lynn Collins, sister-in-law, Virginia Brown. She is survived by her children, daughter, Kelly Nelson of Portland, OR, sons, Stacey Nelson of Portland, OR and Coby Nelson and wife Kas of Camargo, OK; grandchildren, Cale, Kloe, and Cruz Nelson of Camargo, OK; sister, Dorothy Seba of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers-in-law, Bob Seba of Oklahoma City, OK and Joe Bob Nelson and wife Nicona of Chickasha, OK; 1 uncle, nieces, nephews other family and a host of friends.
