Perry James Ross passed peacefully from this life on April 13, 2010 while residing at the Oklahoma Veterans Center, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was 89 years old at the time of his death. Perry was born September 25, 1920 in Harmon, Oklahoma to Robert and Hazel (Sober) Ross. He was one of ten children born to Robert and Hazel.
The family home was located just north of Harmon, and Perry attended the Country Blue Grass Rural School which was located northwest of Harmon on the Fargo road.
Perry entered the United States Army in October, 1942. He served as a Corporal in the 1718 Service Command Unit Station Complement Detachment Corps of Military Police. During his enlistment he was captured by the enemy and was held as a prisoner of war in Germany for eleven months, and three days. For his distinguished service Perry was awarded the Bronze Star Medal along with various other ribbons and bars. He was honorably discharged in November, 1945.
After many years of bachelorhood, on January 6, 1973 Perry was united in marriage to Francis Louella Clifft. The ceremonies were held in Arnett, Oklahoma. Perry and Francis made their home on their farm east of Harmon. Perry enjoyed his work as a farmer and always appreciated having Francis along side to help.
He was a member of the V.F.W. and always enjoyed getting together with other veterans for a good visit.
Perry was a longtime member of the Harmon Nazarene Church
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; parents, Robert and Hazel Ross; brothers, Olin, Paul, and Emery Ross; sisters, Iola Murlin, Beulah Lynes, Edna Cordell, and Irene McClung.
Survivors include brother, Silas Ross and wife Nora; sister, Betty Griffith; step-daughters, Wilma Chappell, Charlotte Feil, and Clydene Kops; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
