Phil Linden Simms, 58, passed from this life on November 2, 2008 at his home in Gage, Oklahoma. Phil was born to E.H. and Ruth Arlene (Porter) Simms on October 11, 1950 in Hobart, Oklahoma. The family lived in Hobart, Snyder, and Altus, Oklahoma.
Phil attended Hobart Elementary, Altus Middle School, and graduated from Altus High School. Phil continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University obtaining a Master's Degree in both Education and Speech. Phil became a teacher and lived for a time in Tribune, Kansas, and Sharon-Mutual, Oklahoma.
On July 12, 1980 Phil married Deanna Mae Rush in Woodward, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with two children, Felecia Mae and Jon Phillip. The family made their home north of Gage, Oklahoma.
In addition to teaching, Phil also worked for a time as a truck driver for AMPI, and more recently for Ellis County District 2. Phil enjoyed spending time with his children; they were his pride and joy. In his younger days he liked to tinker with radios and was a WB5LCM-Amateur Radio Technician.
Phil was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and faithfully attended the Shattuck Church of the Nazarene.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, E.H. Simms. He is survived by his wife, Deanna of the home in Gage, Oklahoma; by daughter, Felecia Simms of Marietta, Ohio; by son, Jon Simms and wife Cierra of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; by mother, Ruth Simms of Altus, Oklahoma; by brother, Loren Simms and wife Janice of Norman, Oklahoma; by father and mother-in-law, Vernie and Della Rush of May, Oklahoma; by brother-in-law, Danny Rush of May, Oklahoma; by sister-in-law, Linda Brewer of Buffalo, Oklahoma; by 1 uncle, 3 nieces, 5 nephews, special friend Biscuts – the dog, other family and a host of friends.
