Radie Beatrice Briggs passed from this life on February 8, 2008 at the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 90. Radie was born November 28, 1917 in the town of Shinewell, Oklahoma to Joseph and Liza Cain. Radie attended grade school at Shinewell and later graduated from Idabel High School with the class of 1936. After high school she attended the Pearl Hazleten College of Beauty Culture of Oklahoma City, graduating in 1938.

Radie was united in marriage to Joseph Ervin Briggs on December 17, 1938 in Arnett, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with three children, Darla Nell, Nita Lou and Joseph Lyn. The couple made their home in JV Flats, later moving to Lenora, Ok. and then Taloga, Ok.

Radie spent the majority of her married life as a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flowers and gardening. But above all Radie's pride and joy in life was her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Radie was very active in the community, Raymond Home Demonstration Club, Federation Club, and Christian Womens Club. She received many awards and acknowledgements in life such as the Dewey County Historic Society Award, and numerous other community service awards.

Radie was baptized at an early age, and attended Lenora United Methodist Church and the First Christian Church of Taloga.

Radie is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ervin Briggs, her parents Joseph and Liza Cain, all of her brothers and sisters, son-in-law Bob Vaughan, and a granddaughter Darla Nell Vaughan. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, daughter Darla Nell Vaughan of Fort Cobb, daughter Nita Lou Adams and husband Charlie Adams of Stillwater, son Joseph Lyn Briggs and wife Janet of Taloga. Her beloved grandchildren: Robert Vaughan, Carla Hall, Nikki Hurst, Stefanie Raines, Chad Adams, Rothy Briggs, Caleb Briggs, and Chandler Briggs. Her cherished great-grandchildren: Robert Vaughan, Ryan Vaughan, Alyssa Vaughan, Brittan Raines, Katelyn Rempe, Hailey Raines, Austyn Fulton, Jacy Wall, Nikki Adams, Kierstin Briggs, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
