Obituary

Rae Dean Hamaker, 76 year old resident of Fargo, Oklahoma died January 31, 2013. Rae Dean was born January 1, 1937 in Gage to Sam Lee and Sara Frances (Barnes) Holt.

Her school years were spent attending Gage Public Schools and she later received her G.E.D.
On December 20, 1953 Rae Dean was united in marriage to Harold Wayne Hamaker in the Liberty Baptist Church south of Fargo. This marriage would remain strong for 55 years, until Harold's passing in 2009. They were blessed with the birth of their three children, Starlene, Justin, and Douglas.
The first four years of their marriage were spent living in San Diego, California while Harold served his country as a 1st Class Machinist Mate in the United States Navy. They lived for a short time in Bremerton, Washington before returning to Oklahoma at Rae Dean's insistence to make their home, once again, south of Fargo, where they remained for the next 50 years until moving to town.

Rae Dean spent her life loving and molding her children and grandchildren, all the while focusing on one of her other great passions, horses. Rae Dean had many loves including swimming. She spent many summers when her children were young teaching swim classes at the Gage Beach. Rae Dean steadily supported and assisted Harold in farming, ranching and operating H&R Tire. Although never quite retiring, she did find new focus in quilting by opening her own quilt shop in Fargo where she and Harold spend almost 20 years working side by side.

She was a longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Pioneer Museum, Local and Regional Quilt Guilds and her most recent pride, The Nimble Thimble Quilting Club. Rae Dean was blessed to prepare and share many meals with Gage and Fargo Senior Citizens, the "Coffee Girls", and her beloved "Quilting Girls". Rae Dean enjoyed supporting and educating, young and old alike, on sewing and quilting projects. She especially enjoyed sharing her resources with Fargo Schools Students and Ellis County 4-Hers.

Rae Dean is preceded in death by her parents, Sam Lee and Sara Frances Holt, parents-in-law June Edward and Effie Irene Hamaker; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Betty Holt; brother and sister-in-law, George and Evelyn Hamaker; grandsons, Jaxon Hamaker, Ryder Hamaker, Jesse Graham; and nephews, Clyde Holt and Bob Hamaker.
