Virgil Ray Gillispie was born November 14, 1949 to Benjamin Franklin and Ina Mae (Fluitt) Gillispie at Spearman, Texas. He passed from this life December 12, 2012 at his home at the age of 63.

Ray attended school at Arnett, Oklahoma. He was baptized and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arnett, Oklahoma.

Ray grew up south of Harmon, Oklahoma on the family ranch. He was a rancher all of his life. Ray loved riding horses, checking cattle, checking water, watching western movies, attending rodeo's, and going to the sale barn to visit with friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Franklin and Ina Mae Gillispie.

He is survived by two brothers, Frank Gillispie of Arnett, Oklahoma; Ben Earl Gillispie of Harmon, Oklahoma; sister Sylvia Mae Head and husband Bob of Woodward, Oklahoma; Levi Gillispie and wife Amy, and children, Austin, Khloe, Wylie, Karly, Kaitlyn; Nichole Hill and children, Dillon, Bralyn, Rayden; Traver Deweese and wife Amanda, and children, Danellie, Mackenzie, Katie; Alisha Mae Hutt and husband Mark, and children, Cooper, Korbin; Lonnie, Betty, Julie Head and families; Hattie Gillispie; Tyson Gillispie; other family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Arnett, Oklahoma.
