Recia Faylene Garcia, born on February 13, 1958, in the old Sibel School House in Mutual, OK, peacefully passed away on June 12, 2023 at her home in Woodward, OK. She was the beloved daughter of Don and Evelyn Poulson and grew up alongside her brothers Lee Don, Darell, and Kevin.
Recia's education began in Mutual, where she attended school until her freshman year before transferring to Vici Schools. In 1976, she graduated with her class and held the esteemed position of president. Recia's journey in life took a beautiful turn when she married Michael Garcia on December 22, 1995. Together, they embarked on countless adventures and enjoyed traveling the world. He was her best friend, compassionate and ever caring for her through the highs and lows.
Throughout her life, Recia found joy in various activities. She had a passion for farming, dutch oven cooking, tending to her flower beds, and canning. Community service held a special place in her heart, and she dedicated herself to making a positive impact on the lives of others. She loved painting barn quilts and made a lot of them. She also loved taking tin cans of ice cream and rolling it down the hill with her nieces and nephews.
On a sunny winter day, February 12, 1984, Recia was baptized by Brother Jerry Hale in Brother Donald Moss's Bent Creek. Her faith remained an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and bringing her solace.
Professionally, Recia made significant contributions during her tenure as a Northwest District Family Consumer Science Program Specialist. After years of dedicated service, she retired on September 25, 2013, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served.
Recia was also known for her involvement in her community and her support of her nieces and nephews. Whether it was cheering them on in 4-H activities, basketball games, baseball matches, or softball tournaments, she was always there, providing unwavering encouragement and love.
In 1976, Recia was crowned Miss Vici, a title that reflected her beauty and grace. She leaves behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy that will forever be treasured by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
