Retha Lee Russell, 72 year old resident of Higgins, TX, passed from this life on March 8, 2016 in her home. Retha was born on May 27, 1943 to Elmer and Essie Hunnicutt in Ada, OK. She attended grade school in Tulsa, OK and high school in Allen, OK where she graduated with the class of 1961. Retha lived in Fort Worth Texas where she met Lee Russell and they were married on October 5, 1962. After marriage Retha and Lee lived in Allen, OK and then settled in Higgins, TX.
Retha worked as a substitute teacher and a member of the Arnett church of Christ. Retha also had many hobbies including cooking, sewing, and gardening. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Retha is preceded in death by her husband R. Lee Russell; parents Elmer and Essie Hunnicutt; and brother Glenn Hunnicutt.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey Russell of Higgins, TX; four daughters Delyna Russell of Port Orchard, WA, Bree Holbrook of Canyon, TX, Kyla Thompson of Amarillo, TX, and Brittany Word of Lubbock, TX; two sisters Patricia Parnell of Arlington, TX and Barbara Reeves of Higgins, TX; four grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews, special students from school and community and many friends.
