Rex D. Welty, 66, of Leedey, Oklahoma was the son of Robert Aaron and Alice Lucy (McClellan) Welty. He was born on February 7, 1943 in Shattuck, Oklahoma and went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
On May 26, 1961, Rex married Jacqueline R. Craig at her parents' home in Trail Flats near Leedey, Oklahoma.
Rex was an active member of the Harvest Fellowship Church. He was also a member of the International Bow Hunters Organization, Professional Bull Riders, American Bucking Bulls, Inc. and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Rex enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle, bucking bulls, horses and spending time outdoors. His true passion was spending time with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed being a part of his grandchildren's lives and teaching them many of life's lessons.
Rex is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Welty of the home; by children, Kim Miller and husband Mickey of Hammon, Oklahoma, Dusty Welty and wife Betty of Leedey, Oklahoma, Monty Welty and wife Amanda of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Becky Dugger and husband Dennis of Elk City, Oklahoma; by grandchildren, Megan Miller of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Jason Welty of Leedey, Oklahoma, Dillon Dugger and Kyndal Dugger both of Elk City, Oklahoma and Tyler Welty of Las Vegas, New Mexico; by brother, Arthur Welty and wife Johnnie Ruth of Leedey, Oklahoma; sisters, Roberta Smith of Perryton, Texas and Elsie Stephens of Hammon, Oklahoma; by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rex will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Leedey High School Auditorium. Pastor Mark Haney officiated. Interment was in Red Star Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, assisted by Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.
