Rhonda Lynn (Turner) Ellis was born to Julia Kaye Turner on November 27, 1966 at Beaver Memorial Hospital in Beaver, Oklahoma.
She attended kindergarten through her senior year in Arnett, Oklahoma. Rhonda received many awards during her high school career. She excelled in band and she was chosen as 1st Chair All-State Honor Band her sophomore year. She was awarded the John Phillips Sousa Award her senior year, and she was the Drum Majorette her senior year as well.
Among her honors and awards in high school, Rhonda also became the proud mother of Nicole Kalynn Turner on November 4, 1983. After graduating high school in 1985, Rhonda attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma for one semester. She then attended court reporting school in Clinton, Oklahoma and went on to work as a court reporter in Florida.
In 1989 Rhonda and Nicole moved to Booker, Texas with her "Mom-mom," Dorothy Heinsohn. On February 8, 1991, Rhonda married Mike Ellis in Lipscomb, Texas. To this union, Michael Wayne Ellis was born on August 11, 1991, and Kristian Chantal Ellis was born on April 13, 1993.
Rhonda loved working with flowers and she owned and operated TLC Floral and Gifts for two years. She then worked at Booker High School as a cook and custodian for several years. Later, Rhonda also worked for B&G Productions as a secretary. She loved being around the students and this past year she worked as a permanent substitute teacher at the school.
Rhonda was an avid Christian and held her relationship with the Lord very close to her heart. She instilled her Christian values into her family on a daily basis. Rhonda grew up attending the United Methodist Church in Arnett, and she was baptized on April 19, 1981. In Booker, Rhonda and her family began attending the First Baptist Church and she was later baptized again as member of the church. Rhonda was actively involved in many church activities, being a Sunday School teacher for many years, an AWANAS leader, a member of Rushing Wind Emmaus, and she often sang solos and helped lead the church worship. Rhonda was currently a member of the First Christian Church of Booker, where she also sang in the choir. One of her most recent Christian focuses was being involved with Celebrate Recovery.
Not only was Rhonda involved with her church, but she also served many civic duties. In 1995-1996 she worked with the Oklahoma Panhandle D.A.R.E. Program, traveling to different schools across the Oklahoma Panhandle and speaking to students. Most recently, Rhonda assisted the Booker Fire Department as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and Storm Spotter, and she, along with her husband Mike, served as an Assistant Scout Master of Boyscout Troop 257.
Though Rhonda was actively involved in many things, her main priorities were her children and husband, as she was a loving wife and mother. She loved to spend time with her family, going to WT football games, playing games, camping, fishing and doing other outdoor activities. She also had a passion for singing Christian music, reading her Bible and serving God and others. Rhonda had a very loving heart. Anytime someone needed help, she was always there as a powerful prayer warrior and to lend a helping hand.
